Overview
Your Essaouira day trip from Marrakech starts with pickup from your hotel, riad, or meeting point at 8:00 AM. We leave Marrakech and travel west across the Haouz Plains.
Along the way, we stop in Chichaoua for a short coffee break. After the stop, we continue toward the Atlantic Coast.
Before reaching Essaouira, we pass through an area known for Argan trees. You may see goats climbing the branches to eat the fruit. We stop at a Berber women’s Argan oil cooperative, where you can see how argan oil is made by hand and learn about its uses in cooking and cosmetics.
Once in Essaouira, you have free time to explore the city at your own pace. Start near the port, where fishing boats arrive and seafood stalls line the waterfront.
From there, walk to the old sea walls and see the bronze cannons facing the Atlantic Ocean. This area is known as La Scala, a historic fort built to protect the city from the sea.
After that, continue into the medina. The streets are easier to follow than in Marrakech. Pass through Bab Laalouj, one of the old city gates, and spend time in the Mellah, the historic Jewish quarter. Visit the souks, stop into a Thuya wood workshop, or sit at a café for a coffee.
Later, head toward the beach. Walk along the wide shore, rest by the sea, or watch kitesurfers and windsurfers on the water.
In the evening, meet your driver at the agreed point in Essaouira. We return to Marrakech and drop you off at your hotel or riad between 7:00 and 8:00 PM.
